Episode 2: Rated G for Great Movies You’ll Only Watch Once (The Nightingale)
On their second episode, Britney and Katie tackle one of the best and least talked about movies of 2018, The Nightingale.
Four years after releasing the sleeper hit The Babadook, Jennifer Kent explored violence towards women, inmates, and people of color in perhaps one of the most harrowing movies of the last decade.
The Nightingale stars Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones) as Clare and Baykali Ganambarr (in a debut role) as Billy, Michael Sheasby (Hacksaw Ridge) as Aidan, Sam Clafin (The Hunger Games series) as Hawkins and Damon Herriman (Mindhunter and Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood) as Ruse.
Clare, an Irish convict long overdue for release, enlists Billy, a native Aboriginal tracker who’s family has been decimated by the British Army’s colonization, to help her track down the men who committed a brutal attack on her family. An unlikely duo, together they bond over their common predicaments in the harsh wilderness of 19th Century Australia. A revenge tale that holds no limits, The Nightingale is a movie that should be seen.
As almost always, this movie involves violence and adult situations, so listener discretion is advised.
